Sports Massage

Sports massage is a deep form of soft tissue mobilisation. It can be applied in a sporting and non-sporting context (pre & post sports massage) as well as prior to or after exercise . However it is definitely not limited to athletes only!

Techniques include effleurage, kneading, wringing, hacking and certain trigger point therapy. It can be used for general relaxation or recovery, as well as to relieve pain, aches or injury caused from repetitive and strenuous physical activity and trauma (anything from sport to long hours in the working environment). The remedial effects of sports massage work well alongside physiotherapy, osteopathy or chiropractic services.

Benefits: Relieves muscular tension, breaks down adhesion’s, mobilises soft tissues and reduces pain. Enhances performance, aids recovery, prevents injury.

Aromatherapy

Aromatherapy massage is similar to a Swedish massage, however the treatment involves the use of essential oils. These essential oils absorb into your skin causing beneficial changes in your mind and body. The oils affect the limbic system, a region of the brain known to influence the nervous system.

Benefits: There are numerous oils you can choose to use during your treatment that all promote different properties. Some are calming (like lavender) and make you feel relaxed while others energize.

Deep Tissue Massage

Deep tissue massage uses firm pressure and slow strokes to reach deeper layers of muscle and fascia. (A stronger version of a Swedish massage). It is a treatment used for anyone wanting to relieve aches and pains, as well as tight built up areas such as a stiff neck/upper back pain. Techniques usually include using fingertips, knuckles, hands, elbows, and forearms.

Benefits: The treatment will focus on a specific problem, such as chronic muscle pain or limited mobility. It can also be used to treat; Recovery from an injury, repetitive strain, muscle tension or postural problems.

Swedish Massage

Swedish massage is designed to improve your circulation, soothe your muscles and make you feel relaxed. This massage treatment involves using long softer strokes over the more delicate parts of the body and stronger strokes over thicker muscles. The pressure can vary depending on preference however this type of massage is perfect for relaxation.
